✨Texas Tech Hosting Three High School, NJCAA & Portal Targets This Weekend

Shelby H

The 2023-2024 NCAA basketball season has officially come to a close and the Lady Raiders are set to host three recruits in Lubbock over the coming week as they prep their roster for next season and beyond: Taylor Barnes (South Grand Prairie HS), Jalynn Bristow (Iowa State) and Ivana Krajina (Odessa College.)

Taylor Barnes is currently a 4-star rated prospect ranked the 45th best player in the Class of 2025 by ESPN out of Grand Prairie, Texas. The 6-0 junior guard had an impressive state tournament debut, dropping 24 points and 12 rebounds to help SGP beat San Antonio Brennan in the 6-A State Semi-Final game. They ultimately dropped the State Championship game to powerhouse Duncanville but Barnes finished with 14 points in the loss.

Jalynn Bristow (Holliday, Texas) is the former 2023 Ms. Texas High School Basketball and the No. 48 ranked player in the country in the Class of 2023 as ranked by ESPN. Texas Tech originally recruited Bristow out of high school but she ultimately chose Iowa State over a slew of high major offers where she finished her freshman season averaging 5.1 points and 3.7 rebounds in 15.2 minutes played. Her efforts were never more impressive than her 7 points and 8 rebounds off the bench in the Cyclones near upset of perennial power Stanford during the second round of this year's NCAA tournament.

We talked more in depth about Bristow in a potential portal targets article last week if you would like to read more here.

Ivana Krajina (Croatia / Bosnia & Herzegovina) had a stellar season for Odessa College, earning NJCAA First-Team All-American and Player of the Year awards in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference after putting up 18.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.4 steals a game. The 5-11 sophomore guard helped lead the Lady Wranglers to the third round of the NJCAA National Tournament where they fell just short of upsetting the No. 2 seeded Wabash Valley 81-79.

Krajina earned all-tournament honors and was also recently named to Dave Campbell's Non-DI All-Texas Women's First Team.
